Grant Burress Video Showreel
It all started when I was a young boy, probably around kindergarten, when I realized that I had a burning passion for art. As I grew up, my love for drawing and animation never faded. My homework would be littered and filled with drawings and doodles as I just couldn't help myself when I had a pencil in hand. As a kid, my character influences were Sonic the Hedgehog and Mickey Mouse. I just loved the way they were designed and fell in love with how they were characterized through animation. My favorite type of art style is cartoon because of the huge impact the style had on my childhood. I enjoy drawing what I see in my imagination because it serves as a time capsule of my past thoughts. My goal is to keep advancing my artistic skills and learn new styles and types of art so I can broaden my horizons. With that being said however, my ultimate passion is animation therefore my dream is to become a professional animator.
My work has simple rules, it should be colorful and bright, and give off exciting and joyful vibes. Another rule is that it has to tell a story. I try to get these stories across through the usage of my Copic and Prismacolor markers when drawing and expressive movements and characterization through Adobe After Effects animation. These tools give my work a complete and professional look.
I have definitely grown as an artist. My work has evolved from what it used to be and seeing the progression is always satisfying. I focus more on the significant details and overall messages my artwork is trying to convey. My freshman year I took notice of the different styles of other artists similar to me used. In this day in age, art runs the culture whether it is in film, video game animation and modeling, and painting. Artists are able to express their creativity in many different forms of media to the point that goals feel as though they unfold in front of you by the year. Art is something that I believe grows with you if you practice. My creations have grown with me and have become evidently stronger and stronger with age and I can't wait to see how my art will evolve in the future.
